Director, Testing and Assessment

Effective May 7, 2009, based on the restoration of funding, the Metropolitan Police Department is re-announcing the Director, Testing and Assessment position (Management Analysis Officer, MS-343-15). The Department is seeking expertise in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or Educational Measurement, or a related area, at the Master's or Ph.D. level. The Director is responsible for managing a law enforcement officer assessment function, including the entry-level police officer selection program, special assignment assessment programs (e.g., master patrol officer), and the promotional assessment program for the ranks of sergeant, lieutenant, and captain. The Director is also responsible for the performance evaluation system for officers and sergeants. The Director manages job analyses, validation research, assessment program design and implementation, and performance standard development. Assessment tools include cognitive abilities tests, job knowledge written tests, structured interviews, and assessment center exercises. Prior experience with law enforcement clients and in managing multiple projects is preferred. The Metropolitan Police Department is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
