City of Columbus: Personnel Analyst

01 Nov 2019 9:06 AM | Elizabeth Reed

The City of Columbus Civil Service Commission is currently seeking to fill four part-time test development and test administration analysts for our employment test teams. We are seeking self-driven, selection specialists who work well in a team environment. While the immediate openings are for part-time positions, this recruitment will be used to fill full-time positions in the future. Therefore, the selected part-timers will have the opportunity to compete for full-time positions within two years or may remain as part-time. The part-time hours are typically flexible, some of which can be completed at home. Required on-site time, with less flexibility, will include activities such as training, test preparations, meetings, and test administrations.

To be considered for these positions applicants must possess a bachelor's degree. The application filing period is Friday, November 1 through Monday, November 18, 2019. Qualified applicants will be scheduled to take the Personnel Analyst I examination on select days in the first week in December. Please apply through this link. Be sure to scan a copy of your bachelor’s degree and attach it when you apply. These positions are planned to start at $25.00 per hour.

For part-time Personnel Analyst I positions, we have found that the following current life situations are ideal for a win-win experience:1) graduate students who are seeking part-time work as they complete their studies, 2) college graduates or retirees who are seeking supplemental income and/or maintaining a connection to the workforce, 3) college graduates who are currently employed full-time and are seeking a second, part-time position and have a flexible schedule or schedule outside of the typical Monday through Friday 8a-5p schedule.

The Civil Service Commission is a dynamic agency with team members who come from a variety of experiences and backgrounds. We are passionate about creating and implementing merit system practices that predict who will most likely be successful in positions serving the Columbus community. We complete job analyses and develop and maintain classification descriptions for our classification plan. We develop, administer, score, and validate multi-phase examinations that include traditional multiple-choice exams, video-based situational judgment exams, video-based tactical exercises, role-play oral board exams, writing samples, written work samples, performance exams, and physical tests. We present training to assessors and information sessions to candidates to communicate a clear understanding of assessment practices. We are a team dedicated to excellence and are seeking new members who can immediately adapt to this fast-paced environment and contribute to these highly successful endeavors.
