Join us on October 17, 2022 at 12pm (CST) for an IPAC webinar! Development and Implementation of a Physical Readiness Test for Special Response Teams in Federal Law Enforcement will be presented by 2021 IPAC Innovations in Assessment Award Winners Matisha Montgomery & Ashley Hoffman.

Session Description: Within the Federal Law Enforcement Officer contingent, Special Response Teams (SRTs) are considered the elite operators, called in to address high stakes situations such as hostage events, active shooters, and other events of elevated risk. These officers must be prepared for duties that require highly physical demands, and as such, qualify as an initial recruit, and once on the team, continue to re-qualify on a yearly basis. This qualification test was largely out-of-date and did not align with the ongoing needs of the teams; therefore, a contingent of IO psychologists were consulted to evaluate assessment options, and create and implement an updated Physical Readiness Test. The updated assessment was created based on extensive job observations and data collection, and validated with SME input from SRTs across the agency. Details related to assessment creation, validation, and implementation will be discussed, as well as lessons learned during the process.
