AM Presentation
9:00 – 11:00 AM
Dr. John Arnold, Polaris Assessment Systems
Assessment Testing:  Current Trends and Issues

A broad array of assessment tests exist, making it difficult to select an optimal assessment tool or approach for selecting employees.  This challenge is further exacerbated by the constant evolution of assessment approaches, by the impact on assessment of computers and the internet, and by the ambiguities surrounding the professional soundness of different approaches to validation.  Dr. Arnold will provide an overview of various assessment tests, the advantages and disadvantages of each type of test, and recent developments within the realms of test-validity research.  Participants will learn about different types of testing and the relative potential (and risk) each type of test affords in the context of employee selection.

Luncheon Speaker
Elizabeth Reed, GLEAN

GLEAN is a subcommittee of IPAC whose function is to further the mission of IPAC within the Great Lakes region.  Our vision is to bring together students, scholars, and practitioners within the Great Lakes region who share our passion for developing and delivering the most effective selection and assessment tools.  Participants will learn about GLEAN and will also be given the opportunity to suggest future speakers and events.

PM Workshop
1:00 – 4:00 PM
Dr. Rebecca Fraser, OPM
Workshop:  Writing Structured Interviews

Structured interviews can be remarkably effective selection tools when they are written well.  However, mastering the art of developing and administering structured interviews can be a challenge.  Dr. Fraser co-presented a workshop on structured interview writing at last July’s Columbus IPAC conference and she is back by popular demand.  Participants will gain applied practice and feedback in an interactive workshop setting as they practice developing and administering structured interviews.
