Hope you find something interesting and useful to you in this issue.
The committee reports show that many of IPMAAC's committees have been busy at work. If you haven't already done so, I strongly encourage you to become more active in our organization. Volunteering to work on one of the committees is a good way to become more involved. We have provided the names for this year and next year's committee chairs. I'm sure they would be glad to hear from you and for your assistance.
Those of you who are interested in the value added by selection should read the article by Ilene (Practice Exchange) on the use of return on investment models for the evaluating the monetary and non-monetary results from the implementation on new selection systems. Mike also has an interesting article in Technical Affairs on whether you should standardize interview panel scores.
Clyde provides us with his great quotes and a "geek" test. The answers are included in the issue of the ACN but no cheating is allowed. Chuck looks at some of the concerns around null hypothesis significance testing and discusses the over and under valuing of statistics in our field (and no Chuck you aren't weird, at least not really weird). Terry's article on things that can happen at the testing site makes good material for staff meeting discussions and if you want to know what's going on around the country be sure and check out Déonda's report in News of the Councils. Jeff's Legal Affairs column uses some wonderful analogies - you'll just have to read Planes and Cars, Crashes and Wrecks to understand how it relates to selection.
It's still not too late to make plans to attend this year's conference in Newport Beach ? it looks like it is going to be a good one. If at all possible, try and join us for a great program and an all around good time.
For those of you who will be at the conference, I look forward to seeing you soon and for those of you who will not be able to attend the next issue of the ACN (August) we will have a report on the conference and more detailed information on the survey results.
As always, I look forward to hearing (and seeing you in Newport Beach) from you in the near future. Take care and enjoy your summer!
